Our History
The VCAUSA was commenced on 19th November 1906, when the Victorian Cricket Association (VCA) established District Cricket in Melbourne. From those early days of umpiring District Cricket, 120+ Victorian Umpires and Scorers have gone on to umpire First Class Cricket. Of these 46 have also umpired Test Cricket and several have scored Test Cricket.
Cricket Victoria also operates its 200 Club, for Players, Umpires, Coaches and Scorers who have participated in 200 matches of 1st XI District/Premier Cricket. Currently, 47 Victorian Umpires & Scorers belong to that prestigious 200 Club.

One of the feature events on the VCAUSA calendar is the biennial Easter exchange with our sister Association in South Australia, (SACUSA). Playing for the R.M.(Bob) Crockett Shield, matches have been held every second year since 1931. During the beginning of a significant worldwide economic depression this was a bold undertaking, but one which was inspired by a desire to promote goodwill and hope. The traditional game that ‘The Vics’ and ‘The Croweaters’ indulge in today was born of a need to remind people that fun is an essential ingredient of life, especially when life is looking challenging.
The Vics are currently leading the score 22 - 20, but the Croweaters have won the last 2 encounters. However, Easter exchanges are much more than simply a cricket match. Members of both associations and their families get together to make and renew friendships and on each occasion there are numerous functions and social activities arranged.
