VCAUSA Life Member - Eric Kelly

Eric Kelly

At the 2019 Annual General Meeting, Eric Kelly was presented with Life Membership of our Association.

In accordance with Rule 15 of our constitution, a recommendation signed by 15 members to admit Eric Kelly as a Life Member of the VCAUSA was approved by the committee of management prior to the AGM.

Eric has been a member of this Association since the beginning of season 1985-86 when he first joined the Cricket Victoria umpire’s panel.

Eric has always been a loyal supporter of the VCAUSA, regularly attending VCAUSA functions and events including the Biennial Easter Exchanges with SACUSA. In 2019 Eric willingly and capably acted as our master of ceremonies at Easter in Melbourne.

He has been a regular contributor to issues of Law 43, has acted as guest speaker at our annual dinner and presentation night and in 2011 was the recipient of the prestigious Robin Bailhache commitment award.

On two occasions, 2013 and 2017, Eric has been honoured with the Cricket Victoria Umpire Service Recognition award.

Since the introduction of the Mentor system by former umpiring manager, Bob Parry, Eric has been a mentor in second Grade. He has been a most dedicated mentor, lending his experience and assistance to younger umpires progressing through the grades.

Outside of Cricket Victoria, he has served as assistant umpire’s advisor in the North West Metro Cricket Association and was the former umpire adviser for the Moreland & Moonee Valley Association for 4 years, prior to the merger with North West Metro.

The award of Life Membership acknowledges his involvement, contribution, valuable service and loyalty to our Association and cricket umpiring generally.
