VCAUSA Life Member - Jan Howard

Jan Howard

Life Membership was awarded to Janet Howard at the 105th Annual General Meeting in August 2011. At the time of the AGM, Jan had been a member for 12 years, joining the Association in the inaugural group of scorers, for the second half of 1998–99 season. Jan's endorsement to Life Membership meant that she became the 1st Scorer to become a Life Member of our Association.

Jan began her involvement with scoring in the VCA competition in the 1976–77 season, and as reported in the 104th Annual Report, Jan had at that time scored in more than 500 First XI matches and more than 600 CV appointments. Jan has always been one of the Association’s quietest quiet achievers and strongest advocates for members’ involvement, and has led from the front. She has always attended meetings, functions and Easter trips where possible, and has supported her husband Lindsay in his quests for team selection.

Jan first came onto the Committee in 2003–04, and completed seven consecutive years as Secretary, three of which she was also Treasurer. She has taken the role of Secretary, in particular, to higher levels than ever before. She also managed the VCAUSA website and been the Association’s Badges and Accessories officer.

In 1991–92 Jan was awarded with a 20 Year Service Award by the Ringwood Cricket Club, and is also a Life Member of the Ringwood Cricket Club. Like any worthwhile keeper of statistics, Jan is involved in the preparation of her Club’s presentations and annual reporting processes.

Jan was awarded the Cameron Medal for Scorer of the Year in 2001–02, and the Robin Bailhache Commitment Award, for her commitment in all aspects of Association for season 2005–06 at the end of that season.
Congratulations and thank you, Janet Howard – Life Member.
