The ALAN Mccarthy CV/VCAUSA UMPIRE Scholarship Award
The CV/VCAUSA Umpire Scholarship commenced in the 2018/19 season as a joint initiative between the VCAUSA, CV and the Victorian Members of the Cricket Australia National Panel Umpires. In September 2020, the award was renamed the Alan McCarthy CV/VCAUSA Umpire Scholarship Award, recognising the significant contribution and support of the award by the late Alan McCarthy, VCAUSA President between 2015 - 2020.
The $500 scholarship is presented annually, and is intended to provide Cricket Victoria Premier Umpire Panel members with early exposure to high performance officiating. The composition of the scholarship has been developed to provide access to high performance officiating within Cricket Australia, thus developing an additional step in the Cricket Victoria pathway program. Under an agreement between Victorian members of the National Umpires Panel, the CV Umpire Support Team and the VCAUSA, the scholarship receipent will draft an annual development plan and review it with the CV Umpire Support Team as required, and they will provide twice yearly updates to VCAUSA via written submission to Law43 magazine detailing their activities and progress. The scholarship receipent is provided with access to:
-
Off-field observations by CA National Umpires or Match Referees
